According to Pullman, the term “bios” means life. In this chapter Pullman talks about the 5 forms of bios. He writes that when talking about someones life it is best to tell the story about a person that reveals something about their character. If there is a purpose in the talking about that person, say something that adds value and substance about the person. Topics to talk about would be where they’re from, what they value, what they look like, and other general and physical features that can be addressed. Some of these topics could also be all through perception.
I task the readers to go out and people watch. Take notes about their appearance and their demeanor and after that try and form a judgment about who you think these people are. Where do you think they’re from?
